Track your repair online: a QR code on every intake receipt
Every intake receipt MyFixio generates now includes a QR code and its own link, so customers can check their repair status from their phone without calling or stopping by the shop.
When someone orders a package online, they expect to be able to follow it: picked up, in transit, out for delivery, delivered. That expectation has spread to any process that involves waiting, and repairs are no exception. From now on, every intake receipt MyFixio generates includes a QR code and its own link, so a customer can check at any time — straight from their phone's browser, nothing to install — exactly what stage their device is at. No need to call the shop and ask "is it ready yet?", or stop by the counter mid-afternoon: just scan the code printed on the receipt they were handed when they dropped the device off.
How it works
Generated when the receipt is printed or shared
The first time a repair's intake receipt is downloaded, printed, or sent over WhatsApp, MyFixio automatically generates a unique tracking link for that repair. Nothing to enable, no setting to touch.
QR code and link right on the document
The receipt PDF now includes that QR code together with the full URL, in a clearly visible section near the bottom of the document, right before the signatures.
The customer scans or visits the link
From their phone camera or by typing the URL into a browser — no account, no sign-in, no app to install.
Sees the status update instantly
The public page shows the current status using the same visual journey the team sees internally, plus the full history of status changes with their dates.
Public tracking page
Order: OT-2026-0143
Customer: Laura M.
Device: iPhone 13
Current status: In repair
History: Received Jul 14 → Diagnosis Jul 15 → Quoted Jul 16 → In repair Jul 18
The same journey the shop sees, explained for the customer
The page was built around a strict allowlist of data: it only shows the order number, the customer's name, the device brand and model, the current status, and the status history with its dates. It never exposes the assigned technician, internal notes, the diagnosis, the quote amount, the device's physical storage location, or any photos or signatures tied to the repair. That's on purpose — it's the minimum information a customer needs to know where their repair stands, and nothing more. The public route is also rate-limited to prevent automated scraping or brute-force attempts against the link.
The tracking link uses a long, random identifier (not sequential, not guessable) that never expires: the same code printed on the intake receipt works for the entire life of the repair, from drop-off to pickup — so it's worth keeping the receipt, or the link, on hand.
Tracking doesn't depend on having the paper receipt handy. If the shop already shares the intake receipt over WhatsApp — an option many businesses use instead of, or alongside, email — that document includes the same QR code and the same link. A customer who receives the receipt over WhatsApp can tap the link straight from the conversation, no scanning required. The page itself follows the same pattern MyFixio already used for public quote approval: no login, built to open on any phone in a few seconds.
This feature joins another one that already existed: public quote approval over a link, no login required. Together they cover the customer's entire contact with the shop without relying on phone calls: approve or decline the quote from your phone as soon as it arrives, then follow the repair's progress through that same kind of link, all the way to pickup. For shops with several technicians or more than one location, this also removes ambiguity about who's responsible for telling the customer about a status change: the history becomes visible the moment it's recorded in MyFixio, not whenever someone remembers to call.
For the business, the payoff is twofold: fewer calls and interruptions asking about a repair's status, and a more professional impression on the customer, on par with tracking an e-commerce order or a courier package. The feature is already live for every shop running MyFixio, with nothing to enable and no setting to touch: the next intake receipt that gets printed, downloaded, or shared over WhatsApp will automatically include its own QR code and tracking link.
